I agree that both are converging towards the center of the data warehouse and data lake spectrum. Who knows, most likely in the future they will have the same features, which makes sense since both are tackling the same user need. It is the approach that are different (proprietary technology like Snowpark vs open-source like Spark/Hadoop is an example). Data sharing is indeed an interesting value proposition, although (1) based on my experience, these "data marketplace" initiatives never succeed, and (2) like Snowpark and Photon, Databricks also come up with Delta Sharing. Finally, "simplicity" here doesn't mean easy to achieve at all. Quite the opposite, making a complex thing simple is a laudable innovation, something Databricks can definitely learn from Snowflake, in my opinion.
